Glad to see you back in action!
I ...Beautiful post. Glad to see you back in action!
I have always preferred the 1956 version of this film, but I think it's because, like you, I had much more access to it. I only saw the '30s version because it came in a collection of early Hitchcock films my sister gave me. Unfortunately, the collection was clearly comprised of films in the public domain so the quality was terrible and I haven't looked back. One of these days I'll revisit the original. Maybe TCM will decide to air it soon. Until then, though, my loyalties lie with Doris and Jimmy.Michaelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06595610476583704014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3193750673421600279.post-61871687578701664862015-05-04T14:17:11.440-07:002015-05-04T14:17:11.440-07:00My experience with the films is the opposite of yo...My experience with the films is the opposite of yours. The 1934 movie played quite often on local television and I practically had it committed to memory before I was out of my teens. I didn't see the 1956 movie until sometime within the last five years. So used was I to the devil-may-care attitude and pacing of the earlier version that it took more than one viewing for me to see anything in latter film. Now I have a better appreciation for it, but my preference is for the more familiar.

You gave me much to consider with your insight about visiting the different time periods. I like that.
