Aubyn, I second that emotion. Many of the earliest movies I saw as a kid (be it in movies or on TV) were brought to life by Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion genius. He will be missed, to say the very least. Farewell to the master of special effects.
I didn't really grow up with Harryhausen films. But it would be impossible to list how many of the filmmakers that inspired me as a youngster were themselves inspired by Harryhausen. And his dedication to his craft and his delight in creation are something to be honored by anyone who believes we should work at what we love.
